About Hot Springs・温泉について

①有馬温泉(Arima Onsen)

Located in the Hyogo prefecture, Arima Onsen is about a 60 min drive from Osaka and a 30 min drive from Kobe. With a history of over 1000 years, Arima Onsen is one of Japan's oldest onsens. Visitors can enjoy the hot spring baths at either the public bath houses or the town's many ryokans (Japanese-style inns). Arima Onsens contain seven different types of minerals in the water. These include carbon dioxide, bicarbonate, chloride, sulfate, iron, sulfur, and more.

②城崎温泉(Kinosaki Onsen)

Also located in the Hyogo prefecture, Kinosaki Onsen is a 2.5-hour train ride from Kyoto and a 3-hour train ride from Osaka. Kinosaki Onsen has been a popular hot spring destination for over 1300 years. Unlike other hot springs in Japan, all seven public bathhouses in the Kinosaki Onsen are tattoo-friendly hot springs allowing people with tattoos of any size, color, or shape. Much of the town's architecture and traditional style has been preserved over the years.

③南紀勝浦温泉(Nanki-Katsuura Onsen)

Nanki-Katsuura Onsen is located in the Wakayama prefecture. Nanki-Katsuura Onsen's water has sulfuric content, which gives it an egg-like aroma. The Nanki-Katsuura Onsen is known to give multiple health benefits, such as improving blood circulation. The sulfur is known to benefit skin conditions and health problems (especially in women). When entering the hot spring, be sure to take off all jewelry. Specifically, ones made from iron, copper, and tin because if they touch the water, they will oxidize and turn black. There are many ryokans you can stay at when visiting the Nanki-Katsuura Onsen and Hotel Urashima is one of the finest.
